As you may know, we are huge beauty fanatics. 😉 We are also very health conscious and mindful of the environment. Even though we obviously are not perfect or 100% at either, we do try to be aware as much as possible. Practice makes perfect right? So anytime we come across brands that put health and well-being first, we take notice and try to learn from them.
Beautycounter is a California-based cosmetic/skincare/hair company created by Gregg Renfrew. Being a mom she realized that a great number of personal care products such as sunscreen, creams and beauty products that she was using on herself and her children were not safe or healthy at all. She found out that only 10% of 10,000+ chemicals found in products have safety information. Beautycounter has banned more than 1600 ingredients that are commonly used in most cosmetics. All their products are safely made and non-toxic. Each ingredient goes through a 5-step Ingredient Selection Process ensuring only safe, high quality ingredients are used.
Beautycounter was first launched in 2013. Some exciting news for our fellow Canadian beauties – Beautycounter is now available in Canada!
BEAUTYCOUNTER BODY OIL in Citrus Rosemary ($89/80ml)
It’s like they made this body oil just for us. 😉 I mean, it’s exactly everything we absolutely love in a body product. You just have to look at the ingredient list and it’s love… from grapefruit, orange, sweet almond to rosemary. It’s made with 13 botanical oils in total. Don’t worry, it doesn’t actually leave your skin feeling oily. I know some people still hear the word oil and immediately think ‘greasy’ or oily feeling.
It’s super hydrating, nourishing, smells fabulous and leaves your skin glowing and luminous (most gorgeous on tanned legs!). Best used right after a shower/bath, on damp skin to help lock in moisture. This is definitely going to be a repeat body product for us.
This matte bronzer is honestly smooth like silk to touch. So smooooth.
We are two pale skinned girls so bronzers have never been a hot ticket item for either of us. It doesn’t mean that we just sit by and watch all the bronzed skinned beauties walk by and not wish we could rock that glowy look too. We keep trying. We’ve come to the conclusion that we can still join the bronzed girls party, but we gotta keep it more low-key. Apply it with a very light hand and use a bronzer that is not too dark. That’s why this one got an A+++ from both of us. It is the perfect bronzed tone for a natural, contoured, non-shiny, radiant, sun kissed look. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to look in the first place? I think so.
BEAUTYCOUNTER LIP GLOSS in the shade Peony ($36)
Nothing is worse than a thick sticky lip gloss, especially during the summer. We fell in love with Beautycounter’s lip gloss because it is NOT STICKY at all! It’s very moisturizing and provides a really pretty subtle sheen. The shade pictured above (Peony) is a beautiful soft pink. It’s the kind of colour you can easily wear everyday. – Natasha
