SKIN CARE: Beautycounter+ Plumping Collection

Beautycounter recently launched a new skin care collection to their lineup titled Beautycounter+.
Beautycounter+ is a collection of targeted treatments formulated with safer ingredients to enhance your daily skin care regiment. The new line features three separate collections to suit different skin types. Each collection contains a facial oil, mask and mist. Beautycounter+ includes the Brightening Collection, Plumping Collection and Balancing Collection.

We had the opportunity to test out the Plumping Collection. Both of us love all things skin care and do our best to take care of our skin. So we were pretty excited to try out the new Beautycounter+ line! We have written a few features on Beautycounter’s products on our site previously. We absolutely LOVE Beautycounter. Every product we have tried from them we both have loved and would actually repurchase. (Their lip glosses are amazing! Non-sticky and long lasting.)

However the main reason we love Beautycounter is because of their philosophy and what they stand for. Beautycounter promotes clean beauty and only use safe ingredients in their products. They have tested and banned over 1,500 harmful ingredients that are commonly used in other cosmetic brands! When you purchase a Beautycounter product, you can be assured that you are not putting any kind of harmful ingredient on your body.

The Beautycounter+ Plumping Collection does not disappoint. Formulated with peony and jasmine essences, the Plumping Collection is designed to restore and firm moisture-depleted skin. This collection is absolutely perfect for any one who suffers from dry skin (like myself) and needs a boost of hydration.

I was really impressed with the quality of each product in the collection (facial mask, oil and mist). Each product does what it claims and adds moisture to your skin. When all three products are used in conjunction, it really does make a huge difference. I’ve used the three products for the past week and a half and my skin seems firmer and more hydrated. I don’t feel the need to use as much moisturizer at night now. The stand out product in the collection for me was the No.2 Plumping Facial Oil ($68). It is by far the best facial oil I have ever used! I have dry skin but also get occasional breakouts/redness and have found that a lot of oils make my skin break out. I was pleasantly surprised with Beautycounter’s Plumping Facial Oil. It is lightweight and not greasy at all. The facial oil contains seven natural oils and smells absolutely divine due to the fragrant jasmine oil! Contains no synthetic or mineral oils and can be worn day and night. The oil has made a noticeable different in my skin tone and I will continue using the Plumping Oil in my skin care routine. My mom (Laura) is more of an oily skin type but she also uses and likes the Plumping Facial Oil. It works with all skin types.

NEW PHYSICIANS FORMULABronze Booster Highlight & Contour Palette
MILANI COSMETICSRose Powder Blush / Shade: Tea Rose
MILANI COSMETICSRose Powder Blush / Shade: Coral Cove
NEW WET N WILDMegaGlo Highlighting Powder / Shade: Precious Petals

Who else just can’t stop adding blushes and highlighters to their collections? We’re just a little bit obsessed. Although we already own way more than we should, we couldn’t help but purchase a few more beauties recently. (The struggle is real! 😉 )

We were SO happy to finally come across Milani CosmeticsRose Powder Blushes at one of our local drugstores after having admired these blushes for years. It was incredibly exciting to finally get our hands on some Milani! Not only are the Rose Powder Blushes beautiful to look at, we were super impressed with the quality of the product. Pigmented, easy to build, long-lasting colour. At only $10.50 CDN, Milani blushes can’t be beat when it comes to drugstore beauty.

Our little shopping session did not just end with two Milani blushes. Once we get going, we have absolutely zero will power, cannot be stopped and ended up with a few more items. Physicians Formula has always been one of our favourite drugstore beauty brands. We’ve tried so many of their products over the years and there honestly hasn’t been one product of theirs that we didn’t like. Physicians Formula’s new Bronze Booster Highlight & Contour Palette is no exception. Featuring three shades, it makes contouring and highlighting easy. The highlighters are pigmented and provide an insane highlight. LOVE this product.

What are some of your fave highlighters/blushes? Let us know!

NEW from LA ROCHE-POSAY – Micellar Water

We’ve been using micellar water to remove makeup and cleanse our skin for many years now. When we first discovered it not many people were even aware of such a product except for other makeup artists and those in the cosmetic industry.

Micellar has actually been around for a 100 years, most notably in Europe. In fact it was created in France due to their harsh water supply. It’s now starting to gain popularity and rave reviews here in North America. And for good reason. It’s awesome.

For anyone who hasn’t heard about it or used a micellar water yet, well, whatta ya waiting for? You really need to try one, we highly recommend it to everyone. People unfamiliar with micellar always say the micellar water looks like regular ol’ tap water! If I had a dolla for everytime I’ve heard that….

But be assured it is definitely not tap water. It’s more like a magic water in the bottles. It’s made up of micelles which are tiny oil molecules suspended in soft water. These micelles are like a magnet that attracts dirt, oils, grime, makeup.  It draws out all of your impurities without drying your skin instead leaving it perfectly cleansed, toned, hydrated and glowing. Whereas other cleansers can strip your skin and leave harsh chemicals behind.

La Roche-Posay recently released three brand new Micellar Waters to their skincare lineup. What makes these new Micellar’s stand apart from others is the fact that they are formulated specifically to suit different skin tones. When it comes to skin care, it is not one size fits all.  Specific skin types have different needs and require different skin care products.

La Roche-Posay’s three new Micellar Waters are suited for:

  • Reactive Skin
  • Sensitive Skin
  • Oily Skin

We have both been using La Roche-Posay’s Sensitive Skin Micellar and absolutely love it. It is very gentle and doesn’t dry out your skin at all. The formula leaves your skin looking clean and refreshed. We would definitely recommend the Sensitive Skin Micellar to those who have previously tried a Micellar Water and found it too harsh. Since this one is suited specifically for sensitive skin types, it will work with your skin, not against it.

Beautycounter Desert Sunrise

Beautycounter’s new Limited Edition Desert Sunrise Eye & Cheek Palette was inspired by the majestic shades of the desert. Gregg Renfrew, (Beautycounter Founder & CEO) wanted to celebrate the spirit of California with this palette. The Desert Sunrise collection captures the essence of California perfectly with it’s rich, warm hues. Very reminiscent of all that California embodies.

Featuring 6 eyeshadows and 3 blushes in universally-flattering shades, you can easily transition from a more neutral daytime look into a more dramatic look with this palette.

We have never tried Beautycounter’s eyeshadows before and were blown away by the quality and pigments. They are silky smooth and feel like satin. Each powder is made with Porcelain Flower Extract which provides natural moisturizing & antioxidant benefits.

We have talked previously about Beautycounter on our site (see here) and how they only use safe, clean ingredients in their products. All of their products are safely made, non-toxic and have gone through a rigorous ingredient screening process. You can read more about their amazing story here

Also available from the Desert Sunrise collection are two brand new lip glosses, ‘Beeblossom‘ (soft light pink), and ‘Coralbell‘ (a bright coral).

The two new shades are absolutely gorgeous. My (Natasha’s) favourite is Coralbell. I almost always wear coral/red shades over pinks so I was very happy that Beautycounter included a coral lip gloss in this collection. It is pigmented enough to wear alone for a beautiful coral shine, or over top of a lipstick for even more colour.

We adore Beautycounter’s lip glosses for many reasons. They are moisturizing and not sticky at all.

Definitely would recommend Beautycounter’s lip glosses to anyone who suffers from dry lips as they hydrate as well as provide a beautiful shine.
