We were completely honored to be invited to Project Skin MD in Vancouver a few weeks ago. We had never been before and we didn’t really know much about it so we were definitely looking forward to our visit. What we did know about Project Skin MD is that it is a non-invasive, dermatological skincare clinic and that we would be learning about SkinCeuticals new photoaging, correcting moisturizer called Metacell Renewal B3. (aka… A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! More about that below.)
What we didn’t realize was just how incredible our experience at Project Skin MD would be! We got to spend the afternoon being pampered starting with a IPL Photorejevenation treatment which was a new experience for both of us. This is a non-invasive treatment that evens out your skin tone, zapping those dark sun spots and basically turning back the clock on your skin’s appearance. All I can say is… yes please! Love it. We both noticed a difference in our skin’s appearance immediately. What was really interesting is we both seen improvement even as the days passed. It continued to look brighter as the dark areas continued to fade. It just looked more radiant and refreshed.
The lovely ladies at Project Skin MD are absolutely fabulous and assist you through every step of the way. They are incredibly knowledgeable and answer all of your skincare questions and give you professional skincare advice that is tailored exactly to your specific needs and concerns. Stay tuned for our full feature on Project Skin MD – coming soon to Rose & Lea!
This post however is all about skincare brand, SkinCeuticals! SkinCeuticals is the only skincare brand that is sold at Project Skin MD and with good reason. They believe in it, it is the brand of choice. The line was created by Dr. Pinnell while he was doing extensive research for skin cancer. It is now exclusively recommended by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and medi-spas for home use worldwide.
We have both been regularly using the SkinCeuticals products that were specifically recommended to each of us since our visit.
Everyone who knows me, knows that I am no stranger to skincare. I am well informed and always current on most of the numerous choices out in the market. I don’t get caught up in what celebrity is promoting a product or what fancy advertising outlets are streaming into social media. I am more concerned with ingredients and what these ingredients are proven to do. The science of the product. The research of the product. Naturally with my Type A personality I went right to work doing my investigative research reading anything I could about this brand and it’s ingredients.
I have to say everything I read about SkinCeuticals was ingredient driven and proven. We were most eager to begin testing the product out for ourselves.
The RETEXTURING ACTIVATOR ($77/30ml) contains hylauronic acid which holds 1000x it’s own weight in water. This oil-free activator helps the skin maintain water which helps hydration and smooths any roughness. We have been using this as our night time serum and find when we wake up our skin is totally supple and glowing.
VITAMIN C SERUM – C E FERULIC ($162/30ml)
This is actually one of my favourite products from SkinCeuticals. I take a lot of medication daily for my Kidney Transplant and my skin can start looking very dull very easily. It’s a continuous battle for me so I’m forever searching for effective products. C E Ferulic contains 15% Vitamin C which has helped make my skin look much healthier. I need all of the help I can get for my skin and I find that this combined with a moisturizer added intense radiance. It is non-oily and absorbs instantly into the skin.
This C E Ferulic serum is a daytime antioxidant serum that delivers advanced environmental protection, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
It remains on your skin for up to 72 hours, even after washing. It is like wearing a continuous anti-aging shield on your face!
CLARIFYING CLAY MASQUE ($51/60ml)
We’re both normal/combination skin types and we both LOVE clay masks. We’re obsessed with trying clay masks and have tried MANY through the years. This one is seriously the bomb. It is packed with kaolin, bentonite, highest quality earth clays, botanicals and minerals. Completely deep cleansing, refreshing and hydrating at the same time! You know how some clay masks get dry and crack on your face? Yeah, well, this one doesn’t do that. With the chamomile and aloe it soothes and refreshes your skin like no clay mask we’ve ever tried. We’ve been using it once a week and we found that the impurities and excess oils around our nose areas appear clearer and smooth. This is one of Natasha’s favourite products from SkinCeuticals.
There are a variety of cleansers and toners available in the SkinCeuticals line, each designed for different skin types.
We have both been using the Simply Clean Cleanser (pictured above) which is ideal for combination/oily skin. It gently exfoliates dead skin cells while clarifying the skin and smoothing out rough texture.
I have had a hard time finding a cleanser that I can use day & night because they seem to dry out my skin pretty bad. So I was intriqued to see how SkinCeuticals’ cleanser would hold up and have to say, I am really impressed! It’s gentle enough for me to use twice daily, has kept breakouts down and doesn’t irritate my skin at all. – Natasha
METACELL RENEWAL B3 ($110/50ml)
Metacall Renewal B3 is the new star product and was just recently launched. It is a comprehensive daily emulsion to improve the appearance of early photoaging.
METACALL RENEWAL B3 contains:
Niacinamide which reduces discoloration
Tri-Peptide Concentrate which tightens and reduces the fine lines and wrinkles
Pure Glycerin which provides deeper intense hydration
We both really like the texture of this product, it’s light, non-oily and absorbs easily.
- Renews skin by increasing cell turnover
- Reduces the appearance of discoloration and the look of redness
- Formulated to deliver intense hydration without a tacky feel
Can be used day/night in conjunction with the serums and the sunscreen.
Overall we’re both extremely happy with the SkinCeuticals products that we’ve tried and how they have noticeably made a difference in our skin over the past few weeks. We both agree that it is one of the better skincare lines that we have tried and tested. The products may be pricey, but SkinCeuticals has been proven to work and you do get what you pay for. Even after using SkinCeuticals for only a week, you start to see the results in your skin.
Have you tried the SkinCeuticals line before? Let us know! xo
