September Beauty Favourites

It’s no secret that we love are obsessed with all things cosmetics. It doesn’t seem to matter how many lipsticks, lip glosses, blushes, liners, etc we have, there are always others on our ‘must have-gotta have list’.
We have certainly tried many, many, many cosmetic products. But only certain ones end up being a continuous favourite in our makeup bags.

We thought we’d share some of our combined fave’s that we have used in the past couple of months.

NIVEA ESSENTIAL LIP BALM

I don’t know what the deal is but my mom and I have been consistently complaining about our dry, sore lips for at least a month now. We mustn’t ever be too far from our trusty lip balms!

Over the years we have tried a ridiculous amount of balms and have found some goodies. Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm & Bioderma’s Autoderm Lip Balm are some of our favourites.

We recently tried NIVEA’s Essential Lip Balm (pictured above) and have to say, we were both shocked at how moisturizing it is. For the price (only a few dollars at the drugstore) it definitely exceeded our expectations. It does what it is supposed to do – hydrate & moisturize your lips without feeling like you have to reapply it a billion times a day. Definitely recommend this balm if you’re looking for a less expensive yet effective lip treatment. – Natasha

BEAUTIFUL BROW KIT BY KISS ($8)

Brows have been the ‘it‘ thing in the cosmetic world. Companies are launching brow products like crazy. I’ve never seen so many different choices for brows in the market ever! Having your brows done is a critical step in your over all look. It basically finishes off your face and makes your eyes pop. When doing make up on a client I always just do 1 brow first so they can see the difference and they are always, always shocked.

We admit that we own numerous brow products and I actually love quite a few of them. One of my absolute favourites is Gimme Brow by Benefit. It is a fiber gel formula and it is truly amazing. But it is on the pricier side at $30 Cdn. My other favourite brow item is Lise Watier’s Double Definition Automatic Brow Liner. It is a non-sharpening, roll up pencil. Works great for achieving that total defined brow look. It is also a little pricey at $21 Cdn.

So when we came across this brow compact by Kiss at $8 Cdn we were very impressed. For an inexpensive option this is a steal. It is a powder brow kit and contains everything you’ll need for beautiful brows. The package contains tweezers, angle brush, razor and several brow shaping stencils, 2 brow colours, wax and a highlighter. – Laura

NEOSTRATA LASH ENHANCER SERUM ($60)

I have always wanted long, gorgeous lashes but never had them. It didn’t matter what mascara I used or how many coats I applied, I was never totally happy. Natasha on the other hand doesn’t suffer from that ‘ain’t got any lashes’ problem. She already has gorgeous long lashes, so as her mom I say to her… ‘you’re welcome.’

I have been using NeoStrata’s Lash Enhancer Serum for the past couple of months and my lashes are noticeably longer. Now when I apply mascara every day my lashes are visibly fuller.
Although directions say you can apply it 2x’s a day, I’ve only been applying it at night before bed. Just a light swipe across my top lash line. It’s not sticky or heavy and I don’t even know it’s on.

It contains SymPeptideâ„¢ 226EL which is a biotechnological peptide that is clinically proven to increase the length and volume of the eye lashes. Natasha has even commented that she wouldn’t have believed it if she hadn’t seen the difference in my lashes for herself. – Laura

BENEFIT COSMETICS POREFESSIONAL FACE PRIMER ($31)

This product has been a continuous TOP FAVE product for the past couple of years. We both use it daily. It makes your pores appear smaller and blurs fine lines and wrinkles.

It is a face primer which can be used under your foundation as a base or can be used on top as well. It has an amazing silky, creamy, oil free texture that contains Vitamin E which is a great antioxidant for your skin. I prefer to use a different primer under my foundation (over my entire face) then I use a small dab of the Porefessional on top of my foundation. Like Benefit says ‘a little dab will do ya’ and they aren’t lying. I gently pat a tiny bit on my problem areas which are my pores around my nose area and the fine lines around my eyes.

It’s like a little make up secret that I’m so happy to know about! I feel like I discovered it and want to tell all women! haha!
I recommend it to everyone and use it whenever I do a clients make up. It is truly an amazing product that I absolutely love and can’t live without. Well, okay, I can live without it… but I don’t want to.  😉 – Laura

DR TEAL’S PURE EPSOM SALT BODY WASH & LOTION with Lavender

Available in 4 aromoatherapeutic fragrances: Lavender, Eucalyptus & Spearmint, Chamomile, and Ginger & Clay.

This is a new product we tried and at first we weren’t too sure if we’d like it just because it contains lavender. The smell of lavender isn’t necessarily one of my favourite smells. But what did interest us in giving this product a try is the fact that it contains Epsom Salt. Everyone knows the healing powers of Epsom Salt. How it relieves all kinds of aches and pains and helps relax your muscles. That combined with the lavender benefits of calming and relaxing we figured it’s at least worth a try.

Surprisingly the lavender smell was very mild and I actually didn’t mind it in the slightest. I don’t prefer to give up on my other beloved body washes but we both found that after work outs and exercising using these 2 products definitely had some soothing and relaxing benefits. Infact the other day I had a major pain issue in the back of my neck and shoulder area (like a stress knot) and I applied just the lotion and in a few minutes it actually eased. It didn’t take the pain away but I felt it took the edge off. I wouldn’t use it everyday, but I definitely use it when needed for any aching muscles.
