West Coast Women’s Show 15th Anniversary

We are so excited about this year’s 15th Annual West Coast Women’s Show! Taking place in Abbotsford, B.C. this Friday, October 16th through Sunday, October 18th, join us for the ultimate Girls Weekend!

There are so many reasons why we love attending the show. Everything from the 400 exhibition booths, giveaways, prizes, fashion shows, wine and spirits to the ultimate cheese tasting seminars (my personal fave). Let’s not forget about the ever popular Hall Of Flame Fire Fighters Fashion Shows (everyone’s fave!) 😉 Be sure to purchase one of the Hall Of Flame 2016 Calenders – the proceeds go towards various charities including the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund & the CKNW Orphans Fund.

This year we are especially looking forward to the celebrity guest speakers actor, Joshua Morrow and talented musician, Bif Naked. Everyone knows Joshua, who has played Nicholas Newman on the popular Soap Opera, The Young & The Restless. He will be taking the main stage on Sunday, October 18th at 1 pm. He’s still so darn handsome and doesn’t look a day older then he did when he started Y&R 20 years ago! The ladies are going to love him.

We are also completely stoked about seeing recording artist Bif Naked, who takes the main stage on Saturday, October 17th at 3:30pm. We are huge music lovers and have been big fans of hers for years. She is a Rock & Roll Icon and has made Canada proud as a fierce female musician and Humanitarian. We can’t wait!

So ladies grab your sisters, girlfriends, mothers, aunts, nieces (and anybody else you can) and check out the show this weekend!

Friday October 16 – 1pm – 10pm

West Coast Women’s Show 2014

This past Saturday we were invited to attend the 14th Annual West Coast Women’s Show in Abbotsford, BC. This 3 day event is a fun jam packed ‘Ultimate Girls Weekend’ featuring shows, seminars, shopping, food, fashion, wine, health and fitness. We attended the show on Saturday only and were excited to see the beautiful soap opera star, Michelle Stafford of The Young And The Restless/General Hospital speak. She took the main stage and answered questions from her fans… for everyone who wants to know if she’s ever going back to The Young And The Restless – “No, not ever!” I can’t even tell you how many times someone would ask or make a comment about her leaving The Young And The Restless. She was so gracious and down to earth. It was great getting to talk to her after the show! After being fans through the years we will certainly be tuning in to see an episode or so of General Hospital just to see her work.

You can check out her website/blog MichelleStafford.com Doin It As A Single Chick‘, where she talks about everything from being a single mom, dating, decor, health and fitness.

wcws3IMG_857495There was a lot of shopping to be done at the West Coast Women’s Show! Everything from specialty foods & handmade jewelry to home decor and kitchen supplies. The show featured a lot of local vendors from Vancouver, BC which we loved.

We don’t know about you but we never get tired of beautiful hand made natural soaps and body products! We had to stop at The Good Suds Soap Co. booth. This Pitt Meadows based company makes quality soaps and body products that are natural and made with no parabens, detergents, sulfates or chemicals. We picked up some lovely lip balms. Our lip product collection really is out of control now…

WCWS2The Blushface Paper Goods booth (pictured left) featured these popular slogan mugs along with greeting cards, art prints and stationary galore! They were definitely one of my favourite booths at the show this weekend. Everything was so adorable! Check out her site here to view all of the mugs available.

(Pictured right) And who can resist this tower of macarons from Sweet Thea Cakes (based out of Langley, BC)!
We are suckers for macarons so of course we bought a box to try them out. Their raspberry macarons were my favourite.

On our list of must-do things during the event was to attend an ‘All You Need Is Cheese‘ seminar. This was a complimentary event sponsored by the Dairy Farmers of Canada and it was awesome! We got to sample and learn about 6 very different Canadian cheeses that were fabulous. A big thank you to David ”The Cheese Guy‘. He was a great host and very entertaining. He made learning about cheese so much fun!

IMG_8597IMG_8601firefightersWe were somewhat timid about this particular event… but the curiosity of seeing some handsome firefighters on stage seemed to overrule that. It seems we have saved the best event for last… the Vancouver Firefighters’ performing for charity. It wasn’t your tacky strip style dancing as one would expect (and we feared of!) to see in the typical ‘Ladies Night’ bar scene. Rather it was done in a fun, sometimes bashful, good spirit for a great cause kind of attitude. Each firefighter bravely took the stage and did his own little fun number. We have to give them credit, they all did an amazing job!

They were there raising money promoting and selling their Hall Of Fame 2015 Calender which you can purchase at Save On Foods and London Drugs.
Twelve firefighters featured from various Vancouver and Lower Mainland cities raise money for many charities including, BCPFFA Burn Fund, CKNW Orphan Fund, Children’s Hospital, and Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society.

After seeing their great effort at the show we were intrigued to do some additional research on the fundraising that the firefighters actually do. We were totally impressed with the charitable work they all do on their own time and in their communities. It’s extremely humbling and inspiring! You can read about some of it here.

So we encourage everyone to go out and purchase your firefighters calender for 2015. It’s for a great cause (and it’s not so bad to look at!) 😉

IMG_8668g4We have never attended this event before but we really enjoyed it. It’s the perfect place to have fun with the girls, score some great deals and get in a little pre-Christmas shopping as well! There were so many things to see and do & shops to discover. Some events and seminars we just didn’t have enough time to experience. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.

Have you been to the West Coast Women’s Show before? We’d love to hear from you!

Interior Design Show West 2014

We were so excited to attend the 10th Annual IDS West (Interior Design Show West) on Friday evening. It took place at the Vancouver Convention Center and featured some of the world’s best designers from Amsterdam, London, New York, Italy, Montreal, Toronto, Portland, San Francisco, Nevada, Los Angeles and of course Vancouver! It is showing this weekend only, September 25 – 28. If you have a passion for design and love seeing what’s new and exciting for your home, you should really check it out.

(Pictured above: Endeavour Neon – Bright neon signs in various sayings and shapes created by Andrew Hibbs.)

ggWe loved the Dinner by Design displays which featured various dining environments by internationally known designers & local talent. The designs ranged from elegantly beautiful to outrageous and whimsical. The stunning arrangement pictured above was designed by local favourites, Vancouver’s own The Cross Decor & Design. Classy, girly & simple. We loved all the details that went into this design. The mismatched vintage chairs brought it all together. Beautiful.

IMG_7944Clean, crisp & elegant. Lovely. Design by Angela Robinson Interior Design.

This tablescape pictured above by designer Robert Blaney was to resemble a dining room after a catastrophe. Regardless of the oddness of the setting, the creativity was absolutely amazing. Loved the details and the thought that obviously went into this whole design. Old newspapers as the tablecloth, a massive centerpiece of melted cream candles, mis-matched chairs, dark grey coloured walls, everything just made you want to keep standing there and stare at it. It brought you into a story that felt as though it were taking place at that moment. Completely captivating.

The red rose (top left) tablescape was designed by début Event Design and was my (Laura’s) favourite dinner party setting. It was dark, mysterious, dramatic, over the top, romantic and I loved it! I could imagine sitting at that table at a dinner party with an intimate group of close friends, candles all lit, jazz music playing, having the best evening! So fun.
The other picture to the right was eye-catching and I loved the creativity of using colorful ribbons as dripping paint from the cans.

The multiple vases of fresh pink and red flowers add such elegance to this setting. The pearl-lined plates, tall pillar candles and gold cutlery added to the over all luxurious feeling. Love.

IDSWEST2Plaid is back, baby! The tartan couch (pictured above) was a huge hit at the show this weekend. Instead of having just a regular ole’ booth featuring various sofas, the designers of Montauk Sofa created this tartan photobooth for attendees to snap pics in. The booth featured their ‘Sarah’ sofa upholstered in Ralph Lauren tartan fabric which also matched the fabric on the floor and walls. Proving less is more. Awesome. Simply a brilliant display.

This amazingly gorgeous hanging light was breath taking. It’s over $4000 and Natasha and I were stunned by it’s beauty.
I’m pretty sure I need that for my dressing room… in my mansion… that I’m going to have. Possibly. One day.
A girl can dream. 🙂

The Interior Design Show West is open tomorrow (Sunday Sept. 28) for its fourth & final day! Open from 10am – 5pm. Don’t miss out! Tickets are available at the door or online.
