What’s Goin’ On: Fall Update

Image

This may be the most randomest post ever, (just warning ya now). But we’ve been MIA lately and haven’t been posting nearly as much as we’d like so we wanted to give you guys a little update!

The reason for the lack of posts is because we have been COMPUTERLESS (i know right?! bloggers without a computer – such a nightmare) for almost a month now which makes blogging extremely challenging… to say the least.

We are currently blogging using 2 Ipads (one full-size & one mini), which makes things just a tad bit harder. The formatting & text in new posts get all screwed up most of the time & editing text takes awhile, but the hardest thing is adding photos. We use a Canon camera, and don’t have a way to get the photos online right now.

Fear not! We are still busy baking new recipes which are all ready to go & will all be posted as soon as we get a new computer to upload & edit them! Until then, we are doing our best to continue to post regularly.

We took some IPhone shots of some recipe sneak peaks below & some other random photos… Check it out! 🙂

To add to the randomness of this post, we are going to end this post with a little MUSIC(is there really any better way to end a blog post? 😉 )

Pumpkin Pancakes

Thick & fluffy pumpkin pancakes packed with fall spices & topped with maple syrup, walnuts & pumpkin seeds.

These pumpkin pancakes are a favorite in our house – If you’re a fan of pumpkin, definitely give these babies a try.
They are the perfect breakfast choice for a cold and rainy Autumn morning.

Peanut Butter Smartie Cookies

Image

I’m usually not a big fan of peanut butter cookies, but these cookies are definitely an exception.

Instead of being hard & crumbly like traditional peanut butter cookies – these cookies are thick, chewy, fluffy & so perfectly peanut-buttery that you won’t want go back to your old recipe. This recipe is also super easy & quick!

If you’re a peanut butter lover, give these bad boys a try!

I used Halloween-coloured Smarties because I just couldn’t resist when I saw all the Halloween candies that are now in stores! (Did I mention, I LOVE Fall? 😉 ) Use whichever chocolates you like (regular smarties, mini M&M’s).

Peanut Butter Smartie Cookies Ingredients + Directions:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter (I used organic peanut butter)
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 & 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 – 1 & 1/2 cups Smarties

Directions:

  1. In the bowl of your stand mixer, fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the butter & sugars together on medium speed until light & fluffy. Slowly mix in the peanut butter, the egg, than the vanilla. Slowly mix in the baking soda, flour & salt until just combined. Do not overmix. Fold in the Smarties. Cover, and chill dough for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten out the cookies a bit using the back of a spoon/cup since they won’t spread very much while baking. Bake cookies for only 9-10 minutes. They will look slightly uncooked, but will firm up once they cool. Leave cookies on cookie sheets to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Enjoy!

3 Reasons Why Practical Magic is the Best Fall Movie Ever.

practicalmagic1

Even though Fall is nearly over, we couldn’t help but post about one of our favorite things about Fall – Practical Magic. We ended up watching a movie called Practical Magic starring Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman a few weeks ago and it quickly became our favorite Fall movie. We are obsessed.

Image

Here are 3 reasons why Practical Magic is the greatest Fall movie ever:

1. THE HAIR.

Oh. my. gosh.
If you are looking for hair inspiration, look no further – you have to watch this movie.
I was literally mesmerized by Nicole Kidman’s hair during the whole movie.
Both Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman’s hair are super long, shiny and gorgeous and my mom and I couldn’t stop making comments about their hair! Serious hair envy.

Now I can’t stop thinking about dying my hair a light red colour.. (one day. it’s gonna happen).

2. THE HOUSE

It’s worth it to watch this movie just for the house & decor alone. By far the best movie house ever! The book & movie take place in New England but due to bad weather & financial reasons they built and filmed the house in San Juan Park, Washington. The entire house was a specially built architectural shell (the house had no actual rooms on the inside), and was built on a platform. All the interior scenes of the house were shot on sets in LA and the house was taken down after filming. (so sad!)

I loved everything about the grand white Victorian house in the movie but my favorite part was by far the kitchen. This is my dream kitchen. Get ready to swoon…

3. MIDNIGHT MARGARITAS!

Enough said.

Image

Practical Magic is all about love, family, & girl power combined with the magicalness of potions, spells and all things witches. It’s a fun, feel-good movie that represents positivity and sisterhood & is perfect to watch during the Fall. Grab your best girlfriends, pour some margaritas & get into the Fall spirit with Practical Magic!

I loved the movie so much that I painted a little picture of Sandra Bullock’s character ‘Sally Owens‘, & the Amas Veritas (True Love) Spell. I found this cute print on etsy, and decided to paint my own version to put on my bookshelf. The original print/painting is by etsy user: woodwings, which you can see here.

To conclude this post, I leave you with one of my favorite scenes from Practical Magic..
“Hang On To Your Husbands, Girls!”

Oh, how I wish I were a witch…
