LISE WATIER Grand Prix Award Winners

IMG_6620

If you’ve read our blog previously, you may know we are just a little (okay… A LOT) obsessed with Canadian cosmetic and skincare brand, Lise Watier. Laura has been working in cosmetics for the past 15 years and since the beginning (even before starting our blog), we were always huge fans of the brand.

Lise Watier were recently awarded 6 prizes at the 2016 Elle Canada/Elle Quebec Beauty Grand Prix Awards! The Grand Prix Awards is an esteemed competition where a group of ELLE readers select their favourite beauty products. The products awarded are all tried, tested and their performance outshines the others.

HAVANA BRONZING POWDER (Shade – Havana)
Available in 3 shades: Havana, Havana Light & Matte

The Havana Bronzing Powder is one of our all time favourite products by Lise Watier. We were not at all surprised to learn that it won the Grand Prix Award for ‘Best Bronzer over $15‘ for a second year in a row!

It is an essential product to have in your makeup kit, not just during the summer months but year round. I personally cannot live without bronzers. I have a pale skin tone so I like to contour and create a little bit of colour daily.

This LW bronzer provides a beautiful natural looking tan. You don’t have to worry about turning a fake orange-y shade with this bronzer! The bronzer can be built up for a more intense glow or applied lightly all over for a stunning subtle sheen.

Available in three shades, Havana is a universally appealing bronzer that will suit all skin tones. Havana Bronzing Powder is 100% paraben-free, blends easily, and holds all day long.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Light Fusion #01 ($43)

Saying we love highlighters would be an understatement. I mean, who isn’t highlighting now adays? Before the whole ‘contour/highlighting/strobing’ craze started, I had been highlighting and contouring my own face and anyone else’s I did makeup on. For years. I was calling it the Jlo Glow before even Jlo was! Okay, perhaps that’s a slight exaggeration. But certainly it was before cosmetic companies were actually manufacturing ‘contour & highlighting kits’!! Even just a few short years ago there were no ‘highlighting’ products. For some contrast on my cheeks I would use the lightest, most glowy pink or peach blush (sometimes an opal shimmered eyeshadow) and apply it on the highest points of my cheek bones. Voila. Contoured cheek bones. I think I’ve always had a ‘cheek bone’ obsession. When I was around 9 or 10 years old, Bo Derek was in a movie called ’10’ and I was mesmerized by her cheekbones. Seriously. Her defined cheeks made a permanent mark in my mind and I wanted to be her! I’ve always loved that look.

MAKE UP FOR EVER’s new Pro Light Fusion is made with a soft-shimmer gel formula which provides a beautiful natural-looking highlight. We love that this luminizer is subtle yet pigmented which can be built up for a more dramatic look. It’s very easy to blend and like all of MUFE’s products, the staying power is incredible. You don’t have to worry that your highlight will fade away halfway through the day. Once applied, Pro Light Fusion’s luminous glow will last the entire day.

We have been using this insanely gorgeous highlighter like crazy and loving it. Obsessed. Thank you MAKE UP FOR EVER for answering our perfect highlighter wishes! 😉

Pro Light Fusion is available in 2 shades: Rose Gold #01 (pictured above) & Golden #02.

ESQIDO False Eyelashes ”Oh So Sweet’ ($32)

If you are like us and just can’t get enough of falsies, you have to give ESQIDO a try. These lashes are like the cadillac of lashes. Amazing quality and absolutely beautiful. These lashes make a huge difference by taking your overall makeup look from ‘very pretty‘ to ‘wowzers’! And who doesn’t want to be a wowzer after all?

Handcrafted with 100% premium mink hair, ESQIDO false eyelashes are supremely luxurious. Seen on the red carpet, celebrities and professional makeup artists frequently use Esqido lashes.

These are definitely the best quality lashes that we have ever tried. They exude perfection and feel extremely comfortable to wear. We tried the ‘Oh So Sweet’ pair which we found to be the perfect length and fullness for that extra ‘va va voom’ effect! It’s crazy to say but wearing these amazing lashes made us feel extra special!

We also tried Esqido’s Companion Lash Glue ($10) and we both were super impressed with the formula. It’s an invisible glue specially designed for mink lashes. It is latex-free and designed to hold lashes all day long.

Ranging from $24-$42 a pair, there is a variety of different lash styles available. ESQIDO recently launched in Holt Renfrew stores across Canada.

NEW JOUVIANCE Glycolic Acid Mask 5% ($40)
NEW JOUVIANCE GlycoLaser Lotion ($40)

It’s no secret that we love our Canadian brands! So anytime we try products made in Canada and we love them we want to share it with everyone. Jouviance recently launched their new 10% AHA Peel lotion and the 5% Glycolic Acid Peel Mask. We’ve used glycolic for years and I could write all day long about how much we love Glycolic and AHA’s but I will spare you all!

What I will say is that these ingredients are proven to work and are extremely effective skincare treatments. Plus, Oprah and Dr. Oz have mentioned numerous times how great these ingredients are. So…

To sum up in a few words just what Glycolic Acid and AHA’s do… exfoliates to eliminate the dead skin cells which help reduce lines and wrinkles, brightens dull skin, produces collagen and elastin and hydrates. Basically it is a little miracle in a bottle that makes your skin look young, healthy and beautifully radiant.

The GlycoLaser 10% is a fluid lotion that you apply onto the skin after cleansing. This detoxifies and hydrates the skin. I have an oily T-zone so I apply it only on this area where as Natasha likes to use it all over her face. We both use this product nightly after cleansing off our makeup.

The Glycolic Acid Mask 5% can be used 2-3 times a week. We both love, and I mean love this mask because it helps deep clean our large pores around the nose area. God I really hate those nose pores! Oh, and while I’m on the subject of nose pores, pores don’t ever really ‘just disappear’. What happens is they become larger through time from not cleansing properly. To help make them appear smaller keep the skin extremely clean so the pores don’t collect dirt. When you see those little black heads on and around the nose, that is dirt/oil in your pores. This mask is like a magic helper! Keeps the pores clean and blackheads away!

What are some of your current favourite beauty products?

Lise Watier Arabesque Holiday 2016

image

It’s the Holiday season! Well, okay there’s technically 46 sleeps left until it’s officially Christmas day. But all of our holiday decor is already out, lit up and sparkling bright. Everything that is except our tree. Even that is sitting in a box in the hallway ready and waiting for us to set up! Besides, the Lifetime & ShowCase channels started showing Holiday movies on November 1st! I’ve already watched 5 festive movies. Infact, as I’m writing this, Home Alone 2 is on. So unless Lifetime is showing holiday movies just for Natasha and I, I’m pretty sure it’s Christmas time y’all!

Since it’s the holidays… let’s talk about what’s new and exciting in Holiday makeup. Our beloved Canadian brand, Lise Watier, recently launched their Holiday collection in stores. Appropriately named Arabesque, which is a ballet pose, this collection reveals all of the elegant elements of an actual ballet. Designed by their head International makeup artist, David Vincent, the collection exudes his inspiration from ballerinas and the minimalist style they present. Everything from the gold mirrored packaging to the gorgeous colour choices of the makeup. The collection is romantic and ultra feminine.

The two eyeshadow palettes in the collection are honestly gorgeous. We’ve been wearing them constantly, playing with different variations and loving every single minute of it! Made with a creamy powder texture, they go on so incredibly smooth and feel like silk to the touch. We are very impressed with the colour combinations, pigments, wearability and lasting power.

There are 2 palettes available: Coppelia (violet shades) and Isadora (neutrals).

Limited Edition Arabesque Powder Blush ($38)

Natasha: Lise Watier’s blushes and highlighters are always stand out products in their collections. We always get giddy with excitement in anticipation of seeing their latest blush/highlighter release!

LW’s new Arabesque Powder Blush is no exception. The design and packaging is incredibly stunning & the product quality is even better. Two blendable shades in a rich, silky texture designed to illuminate and contour the cheeks.

This blush is not very pigmented which some people may love and others may not. I (Natasha) personally really like that this blush is soft and not an overwhelming bright pink. I rarely use blushes and when I do, I apply it with a very light hand. So I was extremely happy with the pigmentation of this blush! It’s soft enough to use as a illuminator, providing a very pretty soft glow. Gorgeous for the Holiday season.

Laura: I like to use this blush with a firmer and shorter haired brush rather then a big fluffy blush brush. This way more product attaches onto the brush and deposits more colour onto the cheeks. The colour of this blush is the bomb. Seriously. I am in love with it. Like all the kids are saying… ‘this blush is everything’!

Baiser Velours Velvet Liquid Lipstick in the shade Swan Kisslimited edition ($28)
Rouge Gourmand Lipstick in the new shade Cerise Noire ($25)

Natasha: Pictured above are two of Lise Watier’s new lipstick releases for Holiday 2016. The new Baiser Velours Liquid Lipstick, Swan Kiss is a limited edition release. I’m a big fan of LW’s Baiser Velours Velvet Liquid Lipsticks and wear them often. They are extremely pigemented and insanely long-lasting! I’ve gotten 8-10 hours wear with one application before even with eating/drinking during the day. Seriously impressive formula. We also like that the creamy matte formula doesn’t dry out your lips at all.

After I tested and wore the new Swan Kiss shade I was quite bummed that it is a limited edition release and won’t be available for repurchase! It is an absolutely stunning matte, deep muave shade. The colour totally represents Winter.

Laura: I was totally surprised when I tried the Cerise Noir lipstick and actually loved how it looked on me. This is a colour I typically would NEVER choose for myself let alone wear. Out in public. Being a blond and ghostly pale, I tend to wear the predictable pink-ish shades.  But after I swatched the Cerise Noir on my hand, then on my lips, I was all like, ‘Hot damn girl!’ Now I’ve been wearing the heck out of it and rocking the whole dark mysterious Fall lip look. Loving it so much!

Lise Watier HydraForce

IMG_6904g

Canadian favourite, Lise Watier just launched 2 new moisturizers and a hydrating lip balm to their skincare line up. Appropriately named HydraForce, these products are incredibly hydrating and nourishing even in the most severe weather conditions. #coldcanadianwinters!

Formulated right here in Canada, HydraForce’s star ingredient is a seaweed found along the North Eastern Atlantic coast line. This seaweed called GaspĂ© Algae Extract, survives through the harshest of East Coast Canadian winters. The skin experts at Lise Watier discovered this algae acts as a protective shield when applied to the face which helps prevent water loss and keeps skin super hydrated.

IMG_69192

HydraForce is available in 2 formulas (Hydra-Protective Creme-Gel & Hydra-Protective Comforting Creme) plus a hydrating protective lip balm.

Both moisturizers have a light-weight, creamy luxurious texture. They do have a light scent to them which we both didn’t mind at all. The cream-gel is great for a normal to combination/oily skin type (which I use) and the cream option has a richer texture more suitable for a normal to dry skin type (Natasha uses).

We both found that after only a week of using these moisturizers we had noticed a difference in our skin. Our skin was more hydrated, smooth and looked radiant. We really loved the way the moisturizers absorbed into the skin and didn’t leave a greasy feeling.

The HydraForce Hydra-Protective Lip Balm ($20/10ml) is amazing! We are both big lip product junkies and both love this balm so much. It protects, nourishes and gives immense hydration. After using it for a couple days we both noticed a big improvement in the condition of our lips. It looks like a clear gloss on the lips yet it’s not heavy or greasy. Best thing is that it instantly relieves dry, chapped lips and you don’t have to reapply it a million times to feel like it’s actually helping. Plus the balm’s orange citrus scent smells absolutely delicious!
