Tried & Tested: #1

IMG_3560g2bestWe mentioned previously that we want to dedicate more time towards the Makeup & Beauty portion of our blog. So we decided it was the perfect time to start a new weekly feature dedicated just to makeup! Each week we will be doing a weekly roundup and featuring our favorite beauty products that we are currently loving and have used that week. Each product we feature has obviously been tried and tested and we will only be talking about products that we love and actually use.

For my very first Tried & Tested post, I knew right away which products I was going to feature. These 5 products have been my go-to’s for the past year! I love and use each of these products almost daily.

First up we have Smashbox Limitless Liquid Liner Pen in Dark Brown. We’ve repurchased this liner quite a few times now. It’s definitely my favorite liquid liner & I use it daily. It’s got a fantastic precision tip which makes it easy to apply & it doesn’t dry out fast like most other liquid liners.

I am a big fan of Clinique’s Chubby Sticks. They come in a variety of gorgeous colours and are really nicely pigmented. I like them because they are super nourishing and actually hydrate your lips while also providing a beautiful natural-looking colour. They are super easy to apply, and don’t require sharpening which is nice. They have a swivel bottom that you just twist up to reveal more lip colour as needed.
My favourite Chubby Stick colour at the moment is Super Strawberry (shown above).

There are plenty of great mascaras out there on the market but it seems that mascara is totally a personal preference kind of item. Everyone has different lashes & different needs so no one mascara will be a favorite for everybody.
My absolute favorite mascara is Covergirl’s LastBlast Volumizing Mascara. I’ve used it ever since it came out a few years ago and have repurchased it many, many times. I love how large the brush is (I’m so not a fan of small, flimsy mascara brushes!) – it really helps to lift and lengthen and provides the right amount of mascara without making your lashes look clumpy. I like to apply quite a few layers of mascara and LashBlast is a great choice for layering. I’ve tried dozens and dozens of mascaras and each and every time, I always end up disappointed and end up going back to my favourite.. good ole LashBlast.

IMG_3561ggI chose Essie in Mint Candy Apple because it’s the nail colour that I’ve been wearing for the past few days and it’s one of my favorite nail colours for Spring – totally bright & cheery. It’s a beautiful mint pastel colour and is actually one of Essie’s most popular colours. You really can’t go wrong with any polish from Essie though – I am such a fan. The colours are so beautiful, non-streaky and really do wear well.

essence1Essence’ Mosaic Compact Powder in 01 Sunkissed Beauty has been my go-to bronzer/blush for the past year. (as you can see! ha) Seriously, I’m obsessed with this powder. It’s the perfect bronzer for pale-skin. I’m usually super-weary of any kind of bronzer as I have naturally pale skin but this powder is perfection. It provides a really nice natural-tan colour and is quite sheer, giving you just the right amount of ‘glow’.
I also have to mention… this powder smells AMAZING. Oh myyyy. I’m not talking about some overpowering smell here… it has a really nice faint coconut smell to it. Mmmm. Every time I apply it, I dream about Summertime & beaches!
My absolute favorite thing about this product? It’s only $5!
All Essence products are between $1-$6, but that definitely does not mean that the quality is lacking. Not at all.
I’ve tried many of their products (mascara, liners, nail polishes & blushes) and honestly every product that I’ve tried, I have really liked. I have many high-end bronzers/powders but I still prefer this Essence one and use it every day! Essence is one of my favorite lines right now.
If you haven’t tried Essence Makeup, definitely give it a try! Super affordable, great selection & amazing quality.

Have you tried any of these products?! What are your favorite products this week?

  1. Great post! I love mint candy apple as well. It’s one of my favorite shades. I’m not so much a fan of the big brush on the Cover girl lash blast. I feel like the stick to too thick for the small bristles.

    • Oh really?! I like that the brush is big.
What mascara is your favorite?! 🙂
